Three Hufadh Memorize the Whole Qur’an
Three of our students—Izzah Aamir, Sieda Omar, and Yasmin Mohammed—have memorized the entire Qur’an and earned the title of Hufadh. This is a huge deal, and we’re incredibly proud of them. Memorizing the Qur’an means they’ve learned every single word of this big, holy book—over 600 pages of Arabic verses—by heart. It’s a tough job that takes years, and these three worked so hard to make it happen.
Becoming a Hafidh or Hafidha isn’t easy. Izzah, Sieda, and Yasmin spent a long time practicing every day. They listened to the verses, said them over and over, and made sure they got every part perfect. Their teachers and families were there to help them, giving them support and encouragement. It takes a lot of focus and love for Islam to do this, and these girls showed they have both. Now, they can recite the whole Qur’an from memory, which is something really special to everyone at our school.
To celebrate this big moment, we held a graduation ceremony at the Centennial Concert Hall right here in Winnipeg. Over 1,000 people came to cheer for Izzah, Sieda, and Yasmin! It was a night full of joy and pride. The event was called Hafl Takreem Al-Hufadh, which means a celebration to honor those who memorize the Qur’an. The hall was packed with students, parents, teachers, and friends—all there to see these three amazing Hufadh get recognized.
The night was full of fun and inspiring moments. We had a guest speaker who talked about how important it is to learn the Qur’an and live by its teachings. Their words made everyone feel motivated. Then, there were student performances that showed off the talents of our Iqra kids. Some sang live nasheeds—beautiful Islamic songs that filled the room with happiness. Izzah, Sieda, and Yasmin even recited parts of the Qur’an for the crowd. Hearing their voices was so powerful, and everyone clapped and cheered for them.
This celebration wasn’t just about the three Hufadh—it was about our whole school coming together. At Iqra, we believe in helping students grow in their faith and their studies. Seeing Izzah, Sieda, and Yasmin finish this journey shows what’s possible when you work hard and believe in yourself. They’re role models for the younger kids, who now dream of becoming Hufadh too. It’s so exciting to think about how they’re inspiring the next group of students!
If you want to see more from that special night, check out these videos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LqEjsa4A7Q and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbqcjZpnuTk. They capture some of the best moments—like the recitations and the smiles on everyone’s faces. Watching them will give you a feel for how happy we all were.
We’re so thankful to Allah for guiding Izzah, Sieda, and Yasmin to this achievement. Big thanks also go to their parents and our Qur’an teachers, who helped them every step of the way. This is a day we’ll always remember at Iqra Islamic School. Congratulations again to our three new Hufadh—you’ve made us so proud, and we can’t wait to see all the great things you’ll do next!
