Program Overview

As Manitoba's only Islamic high school, our Senior Years program prepares students for university and life, with academic rigour and a strong moral compass.

Following the Manitoba curriculum toward a high school diploma, students in Grades 9 to 12 build the credits and skills universities expect, choosing from streamed maths, sciences and a wide range of electives, while keeping their Islam and identity at the centre of who they are.

The Senior Years curriculum

Islam & Qur'an
Qur'an+
Senior students deepen their Qur'an through recitation, memorization and tajweed, with the option to continue their Hifdh.
Islamic Studies+
Advanced Islamic Studies (21G–41G): aqeedah, fiqh, seerah and contemporary Islamic thought, equipping students to live their Islam with confidence.
Du'as+
A broadening repertoire of du'as and adhkar, learned with their meanings so students understand what they say.
Languages
English Language Arts+

Senior English develops sophisticated reading, critical analysis and composition. Students engage with complex literature and informational texts, evaluate argument and rhetoric, and write with clarity, evidence and purpose.

Across English 10F through ELA: Comprehensive Focus 40S, the emphasis shifts toward independent research, academic writing and oral communication, the skills students need for university.

French+
Senior French building fluency in reading, writing and conversation.
Arabic+
Advanced Arabic (21G–41G), deepening fluency and direct engagement with classical and Qur'anic texts.
Core Academics
Mathematics+

Grade 9 completes the Kindergarten-to-9 foundation across number, algebra, geometry and statistics. From Grade 10, mathematics streams so every student follows the pathway that fits their plans, and IQRA offers all three Manitoba streams, each earning a credit toward graduation.

Essential Mathematics 20S–40S
Practical, consumer-focused math, earnings and budgeting, credit and interest, measurement, trigonometry, geometry and statistics for everyday life and the workplace.
Applied Mathematics 20S–40S
Real-world problem solving with technology, trigonometry, functions, statistics and financial math, accepted for entry to many university programs.
Pre-Calculus Mathematics 20S–40S
The theoretical, algebra-intensive route, radicals, quadratics, trigonometry, sequences and series, and polynomial, exponential and logarithmic functions for science, engineering and math degrees.

In Grade 12, students can extend further with Introduction to Calculus and Advanced Mathematics, exploring limits, derivatives, applications of derivatives and integration.

Science+

Senior science begins with Science 10F and 20F, then streams into Biology, Chemistry and Physics at the 30S and 40S levels.

Students carry out laboratory investigations, analyze data, and build the scientific foundation universities expect for science, engineering and health-care pathways.

Social Studies+

Senior social studies builds informed, active citizens. Students begin with Canada in the Contemporary World in Grade 9, examining our demographics, geography and the evolving stories of the peoples of Canada, then turn to Geographic Issues of the 21st Century in Grade 10, using the tools of geography, including GIS, to study natural resources, food, trade, urbanization and sustainable development.

In Grade 11, History of Canada traces the country from pre-contact times to the present through five themes, among them First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples, governance and economics, and identity and citizenship. Students can go further with Grade 12 Global Issues: Citizenship and Sustainability, a course built around inquiry, ethical decision-making and a real school- or community-based action project.

Electives & Wellbeing
Electives+
A wide elective offering, Computer Science, Personal Finance, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Food & Nutrition and more, so students explore their interests and future careers.
Visual Arts 10S–40S+

Offered as an elective from Grade 9 through Grade 12, Visual Arts immerses students in the full artistic process across the four Manitoba learning areas, Making, Creating, Connecting and Responding. Students develop technical skill across a range of media and build a body of personal work.

Through sustained studio practice, study of art in its cultural and historical contexts, and critical reflection, students refine a personal artistic voice and a portfolio that can support post-secondary art and design pathways.

Physical Education / Health Education+

Physical and health education continues as a compulsory credit in every senior year, organized around the same five general learning outcomes, movement, fitness management, safety, personal and social management, and healthy lifestyle practices. In Grades 9 and 10, students broaden their movement repertoire and deepen their understanding of fitness, safe activity, and personal and social wellbeing.

In Grades 11 and 12, the focus shifts to taking ownership of an active, healthy life, students design and carry out a personal physical-activity plan and study nutrition, mental-emotional health and substance-use awareness, building habits that last beyond graduation.
