IqraSchool follows the Manitoba Curriculum as per the Government of Manitoba’s regulations.

Various textbooks, workbooks, and learning materials are used to teach Iqra School’s Islamic Studies curriculum.

Qur’an is taught for 45 minutes throughout the school week

An after-school Qur’an program is available to students who wish to memorize the entire Holy Qur’an with Tajweed. All of our Qur’an class teachers have studied Qur’an in the Middle East.

Iqra School dedicates itself to providing its students with a quality academic education in an Islamic environment. We understand and take very seriously our role in shaping our students’ identity, expanding their knowledge base, and providing them with the skills, motivation and interest needed for lifelong learning. We also recognize the important role schools can play in developing leadership skills in young students and have made imparting these skills to our students a fundamental part of our mission.

Iqra School provides its students with a challenging and meaningful academic program that incorporates independent and critical thinking, problem solving and higher order thinking skills with a strong foundation in fundamental concepts in a manner that empowers themwith the tools and skills needed to become successful. We also integrate moral and ethical Qur’anic principles into all of our academic programs to provide our students with a firm grounding and strong belief in Islam. We believe strongly in the process of engaging students with the goal of making the learning process relevant and meaningful to their lives. Our academic program is student-centered, and it looks at the whole child and directs his/her intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical development

Manitoba Curriculum

Our school curriculum uses the Manitoba Curriculum as required by the Government of Manitoba.Our curriculum provides learners with a solid educational foundation in the language arts (reading, spelling, writing, and English grammar), mathematics, science, social studies, computer/technology and physical education. We also have a dedicated curriculum for Islamic Studies, Qur’an, and French/Arabic language.

We striveto provide a superior standard of education which meetor exceed the educational expectations of the Department of Education, while instilling a sense of moral and social responsibility in our students. Our program is tailored to bring the best of each student, encouraging them to excel in all areas of academics, becomeresponsible and productive citizens of Canada, andupholding peaceful Islamic values and practices

Iqra School’s Technology Program

Your child will have access to technology offered by Iqra School’s technology program. Your child will use technology to access information, collaborate with fellow peers, and demonstrate their learning through a variety of multimedia toolsand resources. Our students will learn how to use technology responsibly, allowing them to reap the benefits of technology. Through Iqra’s technology program, we will mould them into leaders that are confident, sophisticated, and ethical in a world where technology is ubiquitous.

Homework Policy

We believe that homework is an integral part of the learning process. While we recognize that students learn in many ways and by doing many activities, homework provides opportunities for school learning to extend to the home and allows parents to be aware of and become involved with their student’s learning. It is essential that parents be involved in their child’s learning and give priority to their children’s homework assignments. It should be expected that students will have some homework at all grade levels. Homework may involve such things as test preparation; practice exercises to reinforce skills learned in class, previewing assignments for subsequent lessons to ensure that class time is used productively and efficiently, extension assignments that require critical thought in applying learned skills or concepts to new situations or extensive research that is needed for the completion of projects.

Parents are encouraged to help their students complete their homework by:

Schedule a regular, uninterrupted study time everyday.
Setup a homework friendly environment. Establish a quiet, well-lit study area for each child. Keep supplies—paper, pencils, glue, scissors —within reach.
Keep distractions to a minimum. This means no TV, loud noises, or phone calls (unless phone calls are related to an assignment).
Monitoring the assignments and helping students with their organizational skills to ensure that all assignments are completed.
Helping students understand the importance of working hard and encouraging the learning process.
Being supportive if students become frustrated with challenging assignments.
